What is the Penguin Trough in Heartopia?
The Penguin Trough is a special interaction point in the Winter Utopia area. Unlike standard animal troughs, it only appears after completing a specific questline and is tied to the limited-time Winter Frost event.
Penguin Trough Exact Location
The trough is located in the Winter Utopia region, specifically on the snowy path leading toward the Concert Portal. If you are having trouble finding it, look for the following landmarks:
The Path to Concert
On the main road between the giant igloo and the Concert Gate entrance.
Old Sea Entrance
Just north of the beach where the penguins often spawn.
Visual Guide
It looks like a small, blue-rimmed tray sitting in the snow, often surrounded by 2-3 penguins.
Note: The trough will NOT be visible to you until you reach Step 6 of the 'Major Discovery' quest.
How to Unlock the Penguin Trough (Major Discovery)
You must complete the 'Major Discovery' quest chain (Week 4) to make the trough appear. Here is the exact walkthrough:
Find Naughty near the town center. He will mention strange sounds coming from Onsen Mountain.
Go to the Onsen Mountain beach. In the sand near the Old Sea, interact with the 'Strange Bird Feather'.
Bring the feather to Bailey J in her study (above the pet shop). She will identify it as a penguin feather.
Find Annie on the shoreline near the Old Sea (Massimo's stall area). Talk to her and Harry.
Annie explains the penguins were lured by the decor from previous years. She then reveals the location.
Follow Annie to the blue tray. The Penguin Trough is now permanently unlocked and visible.
