What Are the Heartopia Penguins?
During the Winter Frost Event, real penguins have migrated to Heartopia for a limited time. They are wild animals — not pets — that you can find, feed, and bond with at a special feeding trough in the Winter Utopia area.

Penguins are NOT a permanent feature. Once the Winter Frost Season ends (~March 14th GMT), they will disappear. Build your bond as fast as possible!
Where to Find Heartopia Penguins
Penguins gather in the Winter Utopia area, near the Onsen Mountain and Concert entrance. Here's exactly where to look:

Onsen Mountain Beach
The beach opposite the island, near the Concert Gate entrance. Most common spawn area.

Old Sea (near Concert Portal)
Just beneath the Old Sea, right before the Snow Concert Portal peninsula. Check the rocky northern area.

Penguin Feeding Trough
Located between the igloo and the Concert entrance along the main path. This is where you feed them and collect gifts.
If you can't find the trough, complete the 'Major Discovery' quest first (given by NPC Naughty). It leads you directly to Annie, who shows you the penguin location.
Heartopia Penguin Favorite Food — Complete List
Penguins have 3 favorite foods in Heartopia. Feed them these for the maximum bond heart gain per feeding. Any fish works, but favorites are far more efficient.

⭐ Star Tip: Higher-rarity fish (2★, 3★) give bigger bond boosts than 1★ fish. Aim for 3★ Sardines or Shrimp for maximum bond efficiency!
Best farming strategy: Fish for Sardines in the Old Sea (right next to the trough!). You can fish and feed without fast-traveling.
Penguin Bond Levels & All Rewards
There are 5 Bond Levels with Heartopia penguins. Each level unlocks new features and stats. Here's the complete breakdown with exact numbers:

Penguins can also randomly gift standing penguin ornaments and floating penguin ornaments when they visit your home or leave items by their trough.
The two exclusive furniture statues (Baby Penguin at Lv.3 and Penguin Family at Lv.5) are permanent home decorations you keep even after the event ends.
Quest: Major Discovery — How to Unlock the Penguins
If you can't find the penguin trough, you likely need to start the 'Major Discovery' quest first. This is a Week 4 Winter Frost quest chain that introduces the penguins:

Talk to NPC Naughty — he asks you to investigate something unusual near the Onsen area.

Head to Onsen Mountain. Find the 'Strange Bird Feather' in the sand near the Old Sea.

Take the Strange Bird Feather to Bailey J. Find her in her study, above the pet shop in the town square.

Bailey J confirms the feather belongs to a penguin. Now head to Annie on the Onsen Mountain shoreline (near Massimo's pop-up stall by the Old Sea).

Talk to Annie, then speak to Harry who has made his own discovery. Return to Annie — she explains that real penguins were attracted by the fake penguin from a previous Winter Frost Event.

Annie leads you to the penguin feeding trough. You can now feed penguins and start building your bond!
After completing this quest, the penguin trough location stays permanently marked on your minimap for the rest of the event.
Pro Tips for Bonding with Heartopia Penguins
🎣 Fish for Sardines in the Old Sea — it's the closest fishing spot to the penguin trough. Fish → feed → repeat without teleporting.
⭐ Always aim for 3★ rarity fish. Higher star-rarity gives more bond per feeding compared to 1★ fish.
🎁 Log in daily and collect any gifts penguins leave near the trough. Collecting gifts ALSO gives bond hearts!
🐧 Interact with penguins directly by pressing the icon above their head — choose any interaction to earn extra bond hearts.
🌈 Rainbow weather events may increase penguin activity — check on rainy and rainbow days for more penguin encounters.
🏠 At Bond Level 2, penguins can visit your home. Make sure other players don't collect your penguin's gifts when it visits (bug: others can take your visit rewards).
⏰ Don't wait — penguins leave around March 14th (GMT). Prioritize them over other daily activities if you want all 5 bond levels.
