How to Unlock Fishing
Fishing is one of Heartopia's earliest hobbies. Follow the opening progression until you meet Vanya, help with her fishing rod, and complete the fishing tutorial.

How Line Tension Works
White
Safe to reel.
Yellow

The line usually breaks because you continue reeling while tension is in the red zone.

Fish spawn rules are easiest to understand as one stack:
A fish will not become available simply because you are standing in the correct place. Its Fishing Level, weather and time conditions must also match, and some fish depend on a separate attractor or event state.

Weather, Time and Rare Fish
Rare fish can depend on a combination of Fishing Level, location, time, weather, event type and special attractor effects. Rainbow weather is especially important for several high-value late-game species, but it is not a universal rare-fish requirement.

How Sea Fishing Works
How to start
Go to Fishing Village and check Bill. Sea Fishing is a separate activity, not just normal shore fishing in a sea area.
What makes it different
Sea Fishing uses its own fish pool, event logic, and high-value target structure. Golden Shadows matter more here than in normal casual fishing.
Important distinction
Golden King Crab in Sea Fishing is not the same fish as King Crab in Whale Sea. Do not merge those two targets into one generic crab rule.
Fishing Levels and Progression
Catching fish increases your Fishing Hobby progression. Higher Fishing Levels give access to fish with higher level requirements, and current fish data extends beyond Level 10.
Early levels
Common lake, river, and sea targets with simpler spawn rules.
Mid levels
More weather-dependent species, event-linked fish, and better use of named sea zones.
Late-game targets
King Crab, Bluefin Tuna, Swordfish, Smooth Hammerhead, and other stricter late-game fish with sharper condition checks.
Understanding Fish Shadows
Shadow size
Small, medium, and large shadows can help narrow the pool, but they do not replace full spawn checks.
Golden Shadows
Sea Fishing gives extra value to golden-shadow targets because event rares and high-value fish are easier to prioritize there.
